Tree Seedlings

2000 - The Bay of Islands Center for Sustainable Living experiment chose 'forestry issues' as one of their primary causes back in 2000. Always opposed to large-scale logging in Nova Scotia, Center volunteers lobbied hard against clearcutting in the Liscombe Game Sanctuary. They also began planting trees on a small scale.

2003 - Hurricane Juan - The devestation to forests in Nova Scotia has been well documented and here, our tree seedling business began. We started offering seedlings as a reforestation remedy for decimated properties along the Atlantic coast but had few customers that year. Everyone was too busy cleaning up to replant!

2004 - The following year, we began receiving phone calls and emails for 'green wedding favours' and our small native tree nursery was launched. That year, we proudly helped Canadians plant around 1500 trees!

2005 - Finally, it all came together. We had thousands of tiny tree seedlings and lots of customers and Treelings was born, taking the name one of our wonderful customers attached to her wedding favour seedlings.

That year, we shipped over 3000 Treelings
to earth friendly weddings, volunteer and customer appreciation events, memorial services, baby showers, birthdays, Christmas parties and reforestation projects.

In 2014, Treelings celebrated its 10th year helping Canadians to plant trees. We shipped over 15,000 pines, spruces, hemlocks and cedars to weddings, memorial plantings and business eco-events across the country. We also added seed-embedded stationary, seed bombs and bulb-in-a-box favours.

In 2015, we welcomed "Treelings West" to our family business which saves shipping costs for our Prairie and BC customers and provides them with seedlings that are happiest in the west.

2017 - Today, our landscaping/reforestation unit continues to work with several NGOs and environmentally conscientious businesses to establish 'Food Forests' and endangered species (like Black Ash, extinct in Nova Scotia).

Treelings evergreen event sales is still the bulk of our business but our company supports the planting of hardwoods and shrubs that provide food, shade and shelter for people and wildlife, here and in many parts of the world.

We are grateful for our amazing Treelings customers who have helped us grow through referrals and word of mouth advertising. Thank you to our amazing customers!

Our Treelings are registered with the United Nations Billion Trees Campaign (which now numbers over 13 billion trees) planted internationally. Treelings supports tree planting efforts all over the world because planting a tree does make a difference!

"One mosquito does not bother a rhino, but 1000 mosquitos can make a rhino change its direction" - Felix Finkbeiner, 14 yrs old. Plant for the Planet Campaign.

Treelings Green Gifts & Nursery has been shipping tree seedlings across Canada since 2004 for weddings, corporate events and other 'earth-approved' occasions. We also sell seedlings and small trees for landscaping and forest remediation and like to work with the land owners to insure healthy reforestation. Our NGO tree planting projects are for very special trees and very special people.

Planting trees for any occasion just makes us feel better about our place in the scheme of things. We know we did do something, in our own small way to help heal the planet. When we plant a tree, we leave a legacy for future generations. Plant a tree and you plant a memory that lives on into perpetuity. Trees can live hundreds, even a thousand years into the future. Trees can bear fruit or nuts, provide shade from the heat of summer and shelter from the winter's blast. Trees offer fuel and lumber and many by-products used in the building trade.

Beautifully wrapped Evergreen Tree Seedlings carry the right message
for your family, friends and customers.

"I am thankful "for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky
and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes"
- e. e. cummings
